| Bertha and ?? |

| On Sunday, August 1, 1920, John, Bertha and their childen were on their way to church in this horse drawn buggy. The horse became frightened and started galloping, throwing the family out of the buggy. John struck his head with enough force to cause a blood clot; a doctor was summoned from town and his aim was to get John to the hospital, but John died before that was possible. Bertha received cracked ribs and one of their sons received minor injuries. |
